La bella e la bestia ha origini antiche. Narrato da Apuleio, il mito di Amore e Psiche prende forma letteraria nella raccolta di novelle di Giovanni Francesco Straparola ("Le piacevoli notte", 1550), fino ad arrivare all'elaborazione canonica di Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont (1740), che riduce la versione di Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve e la trasforma nella favola moderna che tutti conosciamo.(my movies.it)

Billy, Paddy, Sam e Archie sono amici inseparabili nell'America a un passo dagli anni Sessanta. Insieme formano i Flatbush Four, un gruppo di ragazzini spensierati che si fotografano in formato tessera e si spalleggiano contro i bulli di turno. Cinquantotto anni dopo, dislocati in diverse città degli States, decidono di ritrovarsi a Las Vegas per celebrare l'addio al celibato di Billy, settantenne con fidanzata sbarazzina e villa a Malibù. Tinto e abbronzato, Billy si nasconde dietro un sorriso smagliante e un matrimonio prossimo, di cui in fondo non è pienamente convinto. A confonderlo di più sono Diana, una cantante 'matura' dalla voce e i pensieri suadenti, e Paddy, l'amico con cui ha da troppo tempo un conto in sospeso. Ad assisterlo ci pensano Sam, marito annoiato in cerca di stimoli, e Archie, nonno a tempo pieno sopravvissuto a un infarto. Più riservati e indulgenti, Sam e Archie provano a normalizzare la relazione conflittuale tra Billy e Paddy, vedovo inconsolabile di una moglie amatissima. Quand Billy, le dernier célibataire de la bande, se décide enfin à demander sa petite amie d'à peine trente ans (bien évidemment !) en mariage, nos quatre über-seniors prennent la direction de Las Vegas avec la ferme intention de ne rien céder au poids des années et d'enterrer la vie de ce garçon (Qui a dit "vieux" ?) dans les règles de l'art. À leur arrivée sur le Strip, force est de constater que le divertissement de masses a pris le pas sur le temple du cool.
